CECS wiki:About
This wiki is for and about CECS students and CECS sponsored clubs involving those students.
If any of that describes you, feel free to create pages here!
Content policy[edit]
The policy for creating pages on this wiki are fairly open, but unless you have special approval, the pages should somehow be related to the UCF CECS department in particular or UCF in general. Changes will be monitored, and inappropriate material removed, although anything academically related will probably be given a lot of leeway. You don't need to ask permission to put appropriate material in the wiki -- just be bold and do it. Periodically, security may be temporarily tightened to block spammers; if you find this to be the case and can't do it yourself, you can ask to have an account created for you.
Clubs, courses, and study groups are especially encouraged to use this resource for collaborative editing of shared documentation, study notes, etc. I only ask that pages of relevance to a small group be tagged with an appropriate category to tie them together.
Indexing policy[edit]
Currently, all pages placed in the main namespace should be indexed by google, even if they are not linked anywhere. At this time, the UCF google only indexes things that are linked, but this may change in the future. The Category: namespace is only indexed by UCF.
If you don't want content to be indexed, you can place it in the talk namespace, the user namespace (preferably under your user page) or in one of the other namespaces such as MMAE: or Help: or you can ask for a new namespace to be created.
Namespace | google index | default wiki search |
---|---|---|
(Main) | yes | yes |
Help: | no | yes |
Category: | no | no |
Talk*: | no | no |
User: | no | no |
Project: | no | no |
Vandalism and blocking policies[edit]
Vandalism will not be tolerated. Any observed vandalism will be reverted as soon as it is spotted, and possibly even deleted from the page history.
Many pages in this wiki (such as club minutes) are date sensitive, and it does not make a lot of sense to edit them after some time. If these pages are vandalized, they will be cleaned and then protected.
IP addresses will not in general be blocked, but repeated vandalism from the same ip that is out of country will result in blocking, and may result in a complaint to the relevant ISP.
