End fed half wave antenna

This antenna should work for 40-20-15-10

Based on the HF Kits antenna linked below.

Theory of operation[edit | edit source]

This is a random wire antenna with a high impedance, and a balun to divide that impedance to something sort of close to 50 ohms.

Bill of materials[edit | edit source]

CASE

  • abs box, 3d printed
  • Ferrite: FT240-43
  • Magnet wire: 12-14 awg
  • 100pf capacitor

Coax connector

  • 1 so239 panel mount
  • 4x m3 screws
  • 4x m3 nuts
  • 4x m3 washers
  • 1 m3 wire nut

Antenna connection

  • 2x rope cable clip (for wires)
  • 1x insulator (for antenna wire)
  • 1x m5x30 eye bolt (strain relief)
  • 2x m5 washer
  • 2x m5 wire nut
  • 1x m5 wing nut
  • Antenna wire: 66' UV resistant, ideally kevlar and Teflon coated

Instructions[edit | edit source]

  • Replace case screws with whatever fits your so239 panel mounts
  • case needs to be good in tension and generally structural
  • wind ferrite core (turns?)
