HF moxons are a particular challenge due to their large size and structural support needs.

All the wire moxons can use these parts:

6m Horizontal moxon[edit | edit source]

Technically this is a VHF antenna, which makes more sense horizontal. But it's here because it's made of thin wire rather than being stiff like the other vhf moxons.

This moxon (pictured) is on a rotatable guyed tower.

Guy supports:

  • lazy susan
  • bearings to allow the tower to roll

Antenna parts:

  • wire at least 1mm thick for best bandwidth
  • feed point (above)
  • 2x adjustable spacers (above)
  • center hub (machined)
  • driveway flagging fiberglass rods for spacers cut to length [1]
  • corner supports
  • coax for feed and air balun

10m vertical moxon[edit | edit source]

  • 6ft broomstick makes a good top spreader, hang from tree by its center
  • dacron rope can support coax, diagonal lines stabalize antenna, corner tails act as armstrong rotator
  • weights tied to corner tails (6oz+ arborist bean bags or tent stakes) on ground to keep it aimed

20m horizontal moxon[edit | edit source]

This is about the largest practical size.

  • 13.6ft spreaders assuming a center hub
    • may need to split spreaders in the middle

It is unclear if this is practical or has a good radiation pattern.
