Currently club equipment is transported to field locations in a large water resistant bin using a borrowed dolly. The dolly works fine on sidewalks, but is not very convenient off road, and it might be useful to have something more robust for POTA use.

NOTE: This project is complete!

Desired features[edit]

  • Large wheels suitable for sand, mud, tree roots
  • more secure mounting of the bin
  • small or easily disassembly for car storage and shack storage
  • comfortable pull handle
  • Possible attachment for POTA antennas (Eagle? Iron horse?)
  • Possible attachment for folding chairs?
  • separate box for battery?
  • Neon orange and green paint
  • retro-reflective stripes

Dimensions[edit]

  • Dimensions
    • bin bottom 27"long x15.25"wide x19tall outside
    • bin top is 32" long by 19.5" wide
    • there is a 7" inch clearance to fit under the desk table in the shack
  • pull strap ~6ft

Materials[edit]

Purchased / own:

  • cammo pattern strap and buckle
  • 3d printed handle (may need mods and testing

bought and installed:

  • caster wheels
  • fixed wheels
  • wood
  • wood screws

Potential parts to purchase:

  • eyebolts
  • bungee cords or ratchet straps
  • 8" tires
  • bolts or quick release pin assemblies

Future[edit]

Cart is complete and lightly tested.

  • May want a ratchet strap or eye hooks and rope to stabilize stacks of bins and loose antennas
  • Need to test on sand and trails
    • works great in grass, ok in sand if not overloaded with weight
  • May need a better handle
  • Strap may need better attachment (rivets? sew?)
  • Painting and decoration in progress
